CoreFi Company Report vs Company Check
Company Check publishes free UK company listings with basic financial summaries and sells paid reports on top. CoreFi sells one thing: a one-off report per company, from £39, that cross-checks the filed accounts and compiles the wider public record into a single document. If the free listing answers your question, use it. CoreFi is for when it does not.

Start with the free record
Free company listings, and the Companies House register itself, will tell you whether a company exists, whether it is active, who the directors are and when accounts were last filed. For a quick sanity check that is often enough, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
Where free listings stop is interpretation. They reproduce what was filed. They do not tell you whether the figures reconcile, what the charges over the company actually mean, or what the wider registers say about it.
What the paid CoreFi report does
It cross-checks the filed accounts against the accounting identities and labels each period, so you can see which figures are verified rather than merely reproduced. Where a company filed abbreviated or scanned accounts, the report says what is missing instead of leaving a blank.
It then adds the registers that a listing site does not combine: registered property from HM Land Registry, supplier-payment behaviour, operator licences, insolvency notices, and the group structure, with subsidiaries and their property where the accounts name them.

Frequently asked
Why pay when a basic listing is free?
If the free listing answers your question, do not pay. CoreFi is worth it when you need the accounts cross-checked, the wider registers pulled together, and a document you can keep and share as part of a decision.
Is the free Companies House record enough?
Often, for identity and status. It is not organised for a decision: the accounts are raw filings, charges are documents rather than plain English, and the other registers are separate services entirely.
What do I actually get?
A PDF report on one company, emailed to you, plus a private online link to the same report. There is no subscription.
